I know who I am! Do I?

Israel Houghton is one of my favorite gospel recording artists and in the beginning of that song "Identity", he said, "one of the things plaguing our generation today is the issue of identity" We've all heard several songs that speak to identity, boldly proclaiming that we know who we are in Christ, that we know our God. When we hear those songs that are often in the tone of declaration, we sing them with boldness and confidence even with extra oomph!! "I'm walking in power, I'm walking in miracles, I live a life of favor, I know who I am..." That was sang by Sinach. Wrong Assumptions

Wrong Assumptions What are assumptions? Assumptions are defined as the act of taking possession or asserting a claim; something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof Therefore wrong assumptions can be defined as something wrongly taken for granted or falsely accepted as true without proof. Making wrong assumptions is not innate but is a learned behavior in my opinion. Often times we are too lazy to find out the entire truth so we assume.  As Christians often times we believe that if we take God’s word on the surface that its “good enough”. We believe because God is a God of mercy and the Bible tells us that He is good, it’s okay for us to pick and choose what we “feel” is right or wrong. Hence, wrong assumptions . For instance we assume that if we go to church every Sunday and “live right” God is automatically happy with us or is on our side. We assume as human beings in general; that is believers and unbelievers alike; that with such things as material prosp

Hold on, Hold back, Stand by, Hold fast! These are all synonyms for the word "Wait". To wait means to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. Not an easy thing to do admittedly in most situations. In fact waiting in the context of God can be one of the most difficult things to do because Gods time is so not our time. It is written in Habakkuk 2:3 (MEV) that "...the vision is yet for an appointed time;but it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it delays, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay." Sounds redundant right? How can you say if it delays then say it will not delay. Well the truth is that God's time is not our time, in our eyes anything that doesn't manifest within the timeline we expect, we feel it's late or even times early, but God's time is the best time, the appointed time. Are you relevant?

When you think about what makes a delicious meal and a downright concoction you consider the spices that go into flavoring the dish. Too much salt or not enough determines the relevance of the dish. Matthew 5:13-16 is the scripture from which this topic was dropped into my heart. What makes you relevant? What do you count for? How are you relevant in the Kingdom, in today's world? Jesus says in this passage that you are salt and you are light. That is, you are what gives this dish called life, flavor and what causes those in the dark to see the Light (Jesus). In Potiphars house Joseph was the salt, he brought flavor to his master's house- no wonder Potiphars wife tried at all cost to taste him!! Genesis 39: 3 says that Potiphar saw that the Lord was with him. How expensive is your worship?

How expensive is your worship? When you talk about expensive perfumes in the market right now you might consider, Chanel no. 5 (one of my favorites), Hermes 24 Faubourg, Joy by Jean Patou, Clive Christian No. 1, amongst many more. Some perfumes are even as expensive as $1000, per ounce!!!! Mmmm......Expensive perfumes are to be used wisely and cherished at least for their worth and not used lavishly any how. In Mark 14:3-9, we read about the woman with the alabaster box who lavished her expensive perfume by pouring it on the head of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We read in that passage that some of those present were so angry and disturbed that this woman would waste perfume that is so costly. Jesus said "Leave her alone, she has done a beautiful thing to me...". Worship is a beautiful thing. Its defined as the feeling or expression of reverance and adoration for a deity; it is the act of showing reverence and adoration. John 12:3 tells this same story but tells us

Ginosko Ginosko is a Greek word meaning: to know, to learn, to come to know or get a knowledge of, perceive, feel, to become known, to understand or to have knowledge of, or progressively know. It's also a Jewish idiom to connote intimacy. Ephesians 3:16-19 says "I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
