The Secret Place

Believe it or not, children actually enjoy having time alone.  In so doing, they create secret hiding places to seclude themselves. For them, it's a time of forming mental images, where they can really see in their mind's eye. Most of all it is a place of safety and peace like the mother’s womb.

Psalm 91:1 mentions the Secret Place. It reads like this in the KJV; " He who dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." This Secret Place is not any ordinary Secret Place, it is the Secret Place of the Most High. In this Secret Place you are able to connect with God on a deeper than deep level. It is to be an intimate and private place with just you and God; no one else is invited! In the Secret Place you can hear God and experience His glory. In the Secret Place God can speak to you and show you clearly that which He desires you to see.

A closer look into The Secret Place reveals that it is:

1. A place of molding- Ps. 139:15-16 beautifully describes that a Secret Place is a place of molding. In this place, God personally weaves together each intricate part of who we are. He knows every little piece that completes us individually.

2. A place of preservation and refuge- Ps. 91:4, Ps. 32:7

A place of preservation keeps things fresh and new. The Secret Place is a place God promises to preserve you from trouble and surrounds you. It is a place of covering from pending evil.

3. A place to behold the glory of God. Exodus 33:22

God is a spirit and His glory is not on ordinary display for just anyone's viewing pleasure. You must enter the Secret Place with a yielded heart and have a desire to communion with Him in order to connect. His glory is to be experienced. When God invited Moses to the burning bush, He covered Moses' face with His hand.

4. It is a place of dwelling and abiding. Once you enter the Secret Place you are to stay there, dwell there, linger there because it will cause you to grow and flourish.

There are benefits of the secret place when you abide under the Shadow of the Almighty. When you are under or in a shadow there is a cooling; a peace and covering from the scorching of the sun, the hard dregs of life and the harshness of our circumstances. Dwelling in the Secret Place assures you the satisfaction of long life and the Salvation of God.

How do you enter the secret place?

1. Holiness-We can desire to enter into the Secret Place but ultimately God decides to allow us in, this is based on our holiness. We must be holy as He is holy. 1 Peter 1:15 

2. Pure heart- According to Psalm 24:3-4  it is only the pure in heart that can stand in God's holy place. You must be blameless.

I often get ushered into my Secret Place with God through intense worship and speaking in tongues. I love to just get lost in God's glory so that I can hear Him clearly and see revelations according to His will. Find your Secret Place with the Most High and begin to abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
